Please pray for my husband!

We have gone through a rough couple of weeks once again but I know God is in control and I honestly have to trust him as the trials in life just keep throwing difficulties at us! My husband had a three level fusion on Oct 8, 2009. It was a rough time following the surgery. My husband has Post Traumatic Stress so everytime he goes into the operating room he goes back to 12 years ago when he went through a horrible surgery and ICU at a local hospital....I always thought it would leave someday but when Kerry goes into surgery all those memories come back so strong...so strange how the brain works and remembers things so intensly...you would honestly not believe how difficult to go through this over and over. The day after surgery we were told that my husbands interthecal cathater had been cut in surgery and had to be reconnected! Well, after getting my husbands staples out last week they discovered that the pump was still leaking and now Kerry is facing another surgery to go in and put a new cathater into his pump and spine! It has been up and down the last few weeks and just so difficult to go through more hospital and doctors.........I pray that this will be the last of this medical nightmare and hopefully this last surgery will give some relief to my husband. Tomorrow we go back for them to decide what is the next step and when they will decide Kerry can go back into the operating room as his incision was not healing well and had to wait for the swelling to go down. I am trusting God with all the decisons as it just gets so overwhelming to what will take place in the next few weeks and that their will be no infection in his spine! hugs and prayers, cheryl

PS It was neat today I went to get LiHeap help with our local County Office and the lady that was taking our application was so sweet and I told her I can either look at the cup half full or half empty! Today it is half full! She looked at me and said, "But sometimes we are still thirsty!" How true in life....Have a great week!

My Husband and Daughter...two good stories...he made it one more time through more surgery's..hugs, cheryl

Kerry just got out of surgery at 6 PM tonight and they put a new interthecal pump in..and also got the wires out of his back..It has been a long weekend as the MRI last week had showed he might have had an infection again in his spine but the blood work came back ok today so they went ahead with the surgery..so please pray for no infection...so thankful this one is behind him..hugs and prayers, cheryl

PS they are sending in his pump to Medtronics to see why his pump only lasted 23 months and it should have lasted 5 years..it will take 4-6 weeks to find out what is wrong with his pump!

This is a neat story about Mallory ..she took Kerry to get his MRI at River North and while there was flipping through Chicago Magazine when she saw these girls that she recognized and she turned back and started yelling for her Dad who had just got into the MRI machine..he made them turn it off and he got out to see what was wrong and she was like look ...these are the models I did a few months ago and there was a two page write up on the models in this months Chicago Magazine and Mallory did 4 out of 5 of their hair coloring...She tests out tomorrow and Wednesday and then she will get her own chair at Mario's in Oakbrook..I am so happy for her as it has been a long road for her to finally get to this place in her career...

Kerry and his interthecal pump! Needs to be changed!

Kerry my husband has one more obstacle to fight through...his pump started beeping..it is an interthecal pump that delivers pain medication into his spine where he had the infection 10 years ago to help with all the chronic pain from all the nerve endings being cut and debrided in that area...the pump was just put in 23 months ago and should have lasted several more years..than last night I was googling medtronics pumps and found this FDA recall and very upsetting to see this...I called and the only pump available to put back into Kerry is the same one as he has the latest style but you wonder what is wrong! They can wait fortunately till Dec 8 for Kerry to go through this as he is just getting over his fusion and they do not want to put him under right away...so one more obstacle for him to face! hugs, cheryl Keep Kerry in your prayers!

Pray

We have sure had a medical week again..but this has been our life...everyone tells me to write a book and it sure seems like I should...my voice is going once again and I had to go to U of C yesterday to an ENT and he scoped my throat but thankfully my vocal chords are still moving and is trying medicine again to see if that will stop my choking on food and get my voice to come back strong again..I have to go back to get more tests at Loyola done now...then Kerry my husband came up to me last night at 11 pm almost in tears as he has had so many surgeries for back and pain...he has a stimulator and interthecal pump inside of him and we are not sure if he has a hernia or what so I called his doctor early this morning and had to bring him into Rush this morning and they injected it with steroids and are going to try and help his pain as he is in so much chronic pain that they have to change his meds in his pump on Monday and on Friday give him an injection into his spine for relief of foot pain..so another week of medical next week...Kerry turns 50 tomorrow and he became disabled 10 years ago...hard to believe! They never thought he would survive and he we are 10 years later but so hard to watch someone you love suffer daily and nothing you can do but watch...I really have lived the richer, poorer, sickness and in health when we married almost 25 years ago this fall...hugs, cheryl
